Living with HIV: “In the first few days I mainly thought ‘Oops, now I’m going to die’”

Last year, 781 new HIV diagnoses were diagnosed in Belgium. That is an average of 2 per day. Thanks to preventive and retroactive medication, the life expectancy of HIV-positive people is as high as that of an uninfected person. A big difference from a few years ago. We asked Tim and Stéphanie – who is currently pregnant with her first child – what it’s like to be HIV positive and what stigmas surround the virus.
