London: Liz Truss, who defeated Rishi Sunak of Indian origin in the race for British Prime Minister, has been elected as the country’s next Prime Minister.

Boris Johnson from the Conservative Party is the Prime Minister of Britain. The ministers raised the war flag by making various allegations against him. He then announced his resignation from his post. Subsequently, the election to elect the leader of the British Conservative Party and the Prime Minister was held in several stages.

Rishi Sunak, a former finance minister of Indian origin, was the first in the race for British Prime Minister. However, he suffered setbacks in the various rounds of elections that followed; Liz Truss continued to lead.

At this stage, Liz Truss has been elected as the new Prime Minister with 81,326 votes from members of the British Conservative Party. His opponent Rishi Sunak lost with 60,399 votes.

Commenting on this win, Liz Truss said, “I am honored to have been elected as leader of the Conservative Party. Thank you for trusting my leadership to lead our great country. “I will take bold decisions in all our difficult times and take steps to improve our economy and take the country on the path of development,” he said.

Liz Truss was born in 1975. The 47-year-old is a graduate of Merton College, Oxford University, with a degree in Politics and Economics. Lees joined the youth wing of the Liberal Democrats and left the party in 1996 to join the Conservative Party. From 1996 to 2000, he worked in the economics department of Shell. After that he entered direct politics.

Since 2012, she has been a minister for various departments including food, child welfare, environment, and education. He became Britain’s Foreign Secretary in September 2021. He sided with Ukraine in the Russia-Ukraine war, strongly criticized Russian President Putin, and played a role in imposing economic sanctions on Russia. He is also seen as a staunch supporter of Boris Johnson. In recent campaigns, he has wooed the party with his eloquent speeches presenting his policies.

Rishi Sunak: Rishi, who is of Indian origin, joined the Conservative Party out of political interest. After a few years of active party work, Rishi got an opportunity to contest in the Richmond North Yorkshire parliamentary seat in 2014. He won in the Conservative stronghold of Richmond. He is also the nephew of Infosys Narayana Murthy.
