Lizzo Faces New Allegations of Inappropriate Working Conditions on Tour

Grammy-winning artist Lizzo is facing yet another lawsuit, this time from a woman named Asha Daniels, who claims she endured racist and fatphobic comments while working on Lizzo’s tour. According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Daniels states that she was hired by Amanda Nomura, a member of Lizzo’s team, to work in wardrobe for the tour set to take place in 2023.

Daniels alleges that the work was grueling, with long hours extending from 6 AM to 2 AM and little to no breaks. Moreover, she stated that Nomura frequently made racist and fatphobic comments, referring to Black women on the tour as “dumb,” “useless,” and “fat.” Daniels further claims that Nomura instructed her not to dress in a sexy manner around Lizzo because Lizzo would become jealous when her boyfriend was around other attractive women.

An incident involving an injury also occurred during Daniels’ time on tour. She claims that Nomura rolled a clothing rack over her ankle, causing it to swell. When Daniels wore Crocs to work due to the injury, she was reprimanded and instructed to wear tennis shoes instead.

Daniels asserts that she reported the behavior to Lizzo’s management and claims that Lizzo’s tour manager, Carlina Gugliotta, advised her to secretly record Nomura’s conduct. However, Daniels refused to do so, deeming it unethical. She eventually raised her concerns to Gugliotta directly, believing that they would be relayed to Lizzo. However, Daniels was fired before her contract ended.

As a result of her experience on the tour, Daniels states that she now suffers from ongoing anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), migraines, ocular distortions, brain fog, and fatigue.

Lizzo has recently faced similar allegations. Last month, she was sued by three former employees who accused her of sexual harassment, claiming they were forced to attend sex shows and subjected to uncomfortable behavior while working for her.

It is worth noting that Daniels is represented by Neama Rahmani, the same lawyer who represented the three women in the previous lawsuit against Lizzo. Lizzo has denied those claims, stating, “My character has been criticized. Usually, I choose not to respond to false allegations, but these are as unbelievable as they sound and too outrageous to not be addressed.”

In her lawsuit, Daniels seeks damages for sexual harassment, racial harassment, disability discrimination, unpaid wages, loss of earnings, and more. As the trial continues, it remains to be seen how these allegations will affect Lizzo’s career and reputation.
