The squads of the teams have been scheduled for the Davis meeting next weekend (March 4 and 5) between the Israeli and South African teams that will take place at the “Toto Hall of the Campus” in Ashdod. As you may recall, this is the first Davis meeting to take place in Israel after four and a half years, when the winning team will fight for promotion to the upper house and the loser will go down to second place.
The Israeli national team includes the 44-year-old captain / player, Yoni Erlich (ranked 67 in the world in doubles), Yishai Uliel (345 in the world), Idan Leshem (515 in the world), Ben Fattal (523 in the world) and Daniel Zuckerman (683 in the world).
The news from the South African side is the arrival of 24-year-old Lloyd Harris, the senior player on the visiting team, who is ranked 35th in the world. Raven Klassen, who is ranked 24th in the world in doubles (ranked 7th in the world), will also arrive in Israel. The roster will be completed by Rowan Roulopsa (1,086 in the world), Van Hunter (1,094 in the world) and Dylan Salton (1,124 in the world). The guest captain is Christo Van Ransburg who was ranked at his peak in the 80s in 19th place in the world.
For the two days of the games, there is a limited number of tickets left and the hall in Ashdod is expected to be full. On Friday there will be two singles games starting at 14:00 and on Saturday there will be a doubles game and two singles games starting at 12:00.
