Logistics group DSV orders 300 electric trucks from Volvo Trucks

by time news

As the Swedish manufacturer reports, the first units ordered from DSV are scheduled to enter service this year. The order is expected to be fully completed in 2026. Volvo Trucks does not specify which models the units ordered are. All that is mentioned is that the electric trucks ordered also include examples of the new Volvo FH Aero Electric, which has improved aerodynamics compared to the classic FH Electric.

DSV is a global logistics company based in Denmark with a fleet of more than 20,000 trucks. The group wants to have a total of 2,000 electric trucks on the road by 2030. This includes not only Volvos, but also other brands such as DAF. But there is a special link between the two Scandinavian companies: DSV is the largest freight carrier in the Volvo Group – and it says it already has Volvo electric trucks in its fleet in Sweden and Denmark. In both countries, chargers powered by electricity from solar panels have been set up in distribution centers.

For Volvo, the order from the Danish logistics company is one of the largest orders for electric trucks to date. These are to be used in “all DSV operations in Europe,” as they say. However, the supply package includes “500 Volvo trucks with extremely economical diesel and gas engines”.

Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, says he is proud to deepen the partnership with DSV. “Collaboration and a strong commitment to make a real difference are key to implementing sustainable transport and major carbon reductions. This order is proof of the confidence in our company and shows that emission-free transport is a viable solution here and now.”

Søren Schmidt, CEO of DSV Road, believes that as a global leader in logistics, his company must strive to remain at the forefront of environmentally friendly change. “And this agreement is a great example of how we can bring new technologies to market at scale, make them more accessible to our customers. The agreement with Volvo is an important step towards a more sustainable future in trucking.”
