The voice of the new Renaissance party of the presidential majority will now be carried by Loïc Signor. This former CNews journalist had been responsible for following the Élysée since 2017. According to Le Figaro, it was Stéphane Séjourné, the new boss of Renaissance, who appealed to him.

“We needed a spokesperson able to embody the positions that the party will take. I am delighted that Loïc Signor has agreed to put his expertise at our service, ”confirms the boss of Renaissance in the columns of the newspaper. And in the presidential majority we welcome this recruitment seen as “disruptive”.

“Better to do it without a press card”

In an interview with the newspaper, Loïc Signor assumes his “strong, radical and carefully considered” choice. And to add: “Even if it means playing politics, it is better that it is to defend the values which are mine. And it is better to do it without a press card, ”he underlines. Even if the ex-journalist denies having had any connivance with the ruling party when he was in post at CNews. “My analyses, including the most critical ones, are always online,” he explains, assuring that “one cannot, a priori, (him) sue for any leniency vis-à-vis of the Head of State for the past five years”.

In the meantime, Loïc Signor joins the long list of journalists who have crossed the Rubicon to engage in politics like François Baroin, Noël Mamère or more recently Éric Zemmour. It remains to be seen whether he will stand for election in the future? The idea may catch on later, he says.
