With the presence of authorities, parents, students, local health committees, neighborhood leaders and citizens in general, this May 2, 2023 in the provinces of Loja, El Oro and Zamora Chinchipe, the launch of the Campaign for Vaccination against polio, measles and rubella that seeks to immunize 291,231 boys and girls from the three provinces.
Gina Cueva, Zonal 7-Health coordinator (e); Esteban Bonilla, delegate of the immunization strategy of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP); Camilo Espinosa, Zonal Education Coordinator; Juan Carlos Moreno, MIES Zonal Coordinator; Paola Ruíz, delegate of the governor of Loja; Graciela Muñoz, PAHO/WHO delegate; among other authorities, attended the event.
It will be 10 weeks of intense work from the 17 health districts of Loja, El Oro and Zamora Chinchipe. Stephen BonillDuring the welcome, he expressed that “today we celebrate children’s health and we do it beyond any speech, with facts, with vaccines that are our weapons against poverty, social inequality and child death.”
Meanwhile, the PAHO delegate emphasized the support provided by the international organization to meet the established goal so that all children can continue to grow up healthy.
Anahy Aguirre attended the vaccination campaign with her daughter Sarahí Cuenca, she highlighted the role of parents in this initiative. “We are co-responsible for watching over our children and with the effort of a nation with free vaccines, we can see them grow up healthy. I want to thank you for all this work and I invite you to be part of the campaign”, she expressed.
Gina Cueva highlighted the importance of vaccination, joint work with public institutions and the support of parents to achieve an Ecuador free of polio, measles and rubella.
The event featured a Health fair where health districts addressed topics such as healthy child growth and development control, oral health, healthy eating, mental health, sexual and reproductive health, prevention of chronic diseases, and immunization.
