Jaipur: The Election Department has released the final figures of the first phase of voting in Rajasthan. According to the data released by the department, a total of 58.28 percent voting took place in the 12 Lok Sabha constituencies of the first phase. This turnout is 5.43 percent less than the last Lok Sabha election. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, 63.71 percent voting took place in these 12 Lok Sabha constituencies, whereas this time in the year 2024, 58.28 percent voting took place. Under the first phase, voting was held in Alwar, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Churu, Dausa, Karauli-Dholpur, Ganganagar, Jaipur, Jaipur Rural, Jhunjhunu, Sikar and Nagaur Lok Sabha constituencies on Friday, April 19.

Women of Shekhawati left men behind

Even though politics is dominated by men rather than women, the women of Shekhawati region left men behind in voting. Women of Sikar, Churu and Jhunjhunu voted more than men. In Sikar, the voting percentage of men was 56.26 while the percentage of women voters was 58.92. Similarly, in Jhunjhunu, 51.92 men voted while the voting percentage of women was 54.03. In Churu district also, the voting percentage of men was 63.51 percent while the voting percentage of women voters was 63.71 percent.

Voting of voters above 85 years of age is 60.37 percent

According to the data released by the Election Department, the voting percentage of voters above 85 years of age was 60.37 percent. Out of approximately 2 lakh 70 thousand voters in the first phase, approximately 1 lakh 63 thousand voters exercised their franchise. Among the 12 Lok Sabha constituencies of the first phase, the highest 67.21 percent voting took place in Ganganagar Lok Sabha constituency while the lowest 50.02 percent voting took place in Karauli-Dholpur Lok Sabha constituency. A total of 1,47,53,060 voters in the state exercised their franchise in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections. Of these, 77,78,928 men voted while 68,14,997 women voted. 164 third gender voters also cast their votes.
