He shouts “Free” and the passengers chant “Palestine” in response. A London Underground driver was suspended on Monday after a video was posted on social media where he can apparently be heard leading a microphone into a song of support for the Palestinians with passengers, London transport operator TfL announced.
The incident took place on Saturday, when tens of thousands of people took part in a demonstration in London in support of the Palestinians, two weeks after the bloody Hamas attack in Israel which led to a violent response in the Gaza Strip.

In a video posted on social media and filmed in a crowded metro train, we hear a person speaking into the microphone usually used by the driver to communicate with people in the train, and saying “free”, while the passengers respond “ Palestine.”
“We urgently and thoroughly investigated footage showing a tube driver misusing the public address system to lead chants on a Central Line train on Saturday. A driver has now been identified and suspended while we continue to investigate the incident, said Glynn Barton, head of operations at Transport for London (TfL) in a statement.
On Saturday, the British Transport Police said they were “aware” of the incident and were “investigating” with TfL. The Israeli embassy in the United Kingdom also judged on X, “deeply disturbing to see such intolerance in the London subways”.
It is deeply troubling to see such intolerance on London’s tubes. @TfL’s public transport should be a place of safety and inclusivity for all.
