The best beach in the world is a surfer’s paradise with pink sand and is located in Australia, according to Lonely Planet. Specifically, at the easternmost point of mainland Australia, in Byron Bay, The Pass beach suitable for beginners as well as experienced surfers.

Shells and bones collected by the boat ramp testify to the site’s rich Aboriginal history, while within the rainforest that reaches to the edge of The Pass, koalas and turkeys live.

In 5th place on the list Lonely Planet’s best beaches Sarakiniko is located in Miloswith the magazine writing that the spectacular views from the volcanic rocks and cool waters compensate those who will need to carry their own supplies to this beach.

“Centuries of erosion by waves and winds have made potholes and arches in the rock formations on the beach, creating caves to explore and alabaster cliffs to jump over. Sunbathe on the rocks or use them as an access point to slip into the water for some snorkeling,” the magazine continues.

For those who want to avoid the crowds, Lonely Planet recommends visiting Sarakiniko in September or October. And in high season, it is better to arrive early in the morning, when the only sound is the wind and the waves.

“If you can, return at sunset – is a magnificent sight as the alabaster rocks glow in the fiery hues of the setting sun.”
