Berlin / Uckermark – This February brought us a record difference in temperatures totaling over 40 degrees, the warmest February day of all time and another cooling off immediately afterwards. All of this only shortly after the onset of winter, which promised to bring historical amounts of snow, but thankfully failed to keep it.
However we turn it, the weather extremes come more and more frequently and of course this also has an impact on the garden. The plants faced particular challenges in these capricious weather conditions and unfortunately some of them were damaged. On the other hand, it was a good time to complete certain jobs and start others. It is worth taking a closer look at what the temperature change has caused in the garden in order to be prepared for the times ahead. Because observe carefully and draw conclusions from it: that’s half the gardening work.
