“Indignant and disgusted”, the mayor of Longjumeau Sandrine Gelot (LR) expressed her anger on Monday on social networks. In a message posted on her Facebook page, the elected official denounces the desecration of three wreaths laid on Sunday at the foot of the war memorial, on the Day of Remembrance of the Victims and Heroes of Deportation.

“I cannot accept and trivialize acts which put our Republic in danger, she adds on the telephone. These wreaths had been laid the day before by the associations of veterans, the Israelite cultural association of Longjumeau and by the city and the departmental council that I represented. As elected officials, we are increasingly confronted with this lack of respect. I can not stand it anymore. »

This Monday, Sandrine Gelot filed a complaint. An investigation was therefore opened to find the perpetrator(s). “The city is equipped with video surveillance cameras, continues the mayor. We rely on the device to identify the perpetrator(s). »

A man was reportedly spotted in the early morning kicking the sheaves before leaving them strewn on the ground. The images are being identified by the police. Conversely, a passerby has meanwhile restored some order, resting the damaged sheaves on the war memorial.
