During the CDMX Health Fair, more than 200 professionals provided services to nearly two thousand people who attended each day.
So far this administration, more than 30,000 people with hepatitis C have been detected or cured, through the National Program for the Elimination of this disease. This was reported by the Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez.
Why did Seguro Popular fail?
He mentioned that, in the past six-year term, with the Popular insurance only 400 people were treated per year, because the health centers had to buy the medicines and then request reimbursement of the cost. Instead, he assured that Mexico is currently on the right path so that no person has the disease.
By closing the Health fair which was held for three days in Mexico City, as part of the activities of the first National Day of Public Health (JNSP) 2023Undersecretary López-Gatell Ramírez stressed that it is essential that the population knows about public programs and uses them.

After touring the 21 modules that made up the fair, he highlighted the importance of a healthy life. This requires modifying, for example, diet, avoiding the consumption of junk products and exposure to toxins in order to have adequate health.
Health Fair Results
He stressed that bringing health services closer to the population is a new model that began in 2020 to offer prevention and promotion measures that contribute to changing the mentality and attitudes regarding health, not only individually, but also collectively.
“Healthy communities are strong communities. Health is not only taken care of for ourselves, but also for our relatives, friends and strangers. We all have to look out for the well-being of others.”
This fair, he explained, presents the diversity of activities that make up the National Public Health Service, a new organizational structure for the well-being of the community, from the government to the people and vice versa.
The holder of the General Directorate of Health Promotion (DGPS)Ricardo Cortés Alcalá, announced that, for three days, 200 health professionals attended more than six thousand people from different population groups who attended the “Healthy Community, Strong Community” Health Fair, which was held in Alameda Central.
He explained that on this public health day, glucose measurement services, blood pressure, vaccinations for boys and girls, nutrition talks, family planning, healthy pregnancy, palliative care, prevention of the human immunodeficiency virus and hepatitis C, mental health, road safety and others were provided.
During the tour of the 21 modules, Undersecretary Hugo López-Gatell Ramírez and the General Director of Health Promotion were accompanied by the Director of Health Promotion of the Health Services of Mexico City, Jesús Santiago Reza Casahonda, and the Director of the Cuauhtémoc Health Jurisdiction, Sandrín Rivera Hernández.
