The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, expressed his solidarity this Friday with the left-wing governments of Latin America and mentioned in particular the case of Argentina, since he warned that the economic crisis it is suffering is the responsibility of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and of former president Mauricio Macri.

“Why is the crisis so deep? Because in complicity with international financial organizations, Mr. Macri’s government borrowed Argentina, but without limit,” López Obrador told assess the problems now facing his Argentine counterpart, Alberto Fernández, whom he described as his brotherreported the RT news network.

“For political reasons, the United States government helped the IMF to deliver excess money to the Macri government because he wanted to be re-elected and he was a friend of the United States. Both are to blame: the one who gave and the one who knowingly received that it was an unmanageable debt,” he said.

López Obrador recalled in this way the historic loan for more than 50,000 million dollars that the IMF granted to Macri in 2018, in the final stretch of his government, when he was seeking re-election, at his usual daily press conference.

“Now many are blaming Alberto when the origin is the one I just told them about. Now it turns out that the IMF does not show its face, it does not exist, it disappeared; and the politicians who borrowed Argentina, neither; and Macri, neither, ” accused.

“They are both to blame: the one who delivered (IMF) and the one who received (Macri) knowing that it was an unmanageable debt”

AMLO, as the president is identified in Mexico, considered that Many of these issues go unnoticed in Argentina due to opposition media control.

“They are conservatives from Argentina in all the media. Yes, we complain here, but here there is professionalism, plurality, the media are democratized, very close to the people, very distant from power. In other words, this is a free press in comparison,” he ironized. .

He also considered that the same thing happens in other countries such as Chile and the United States, as well as Europe.

“There is tremendous control and a lot of manipulation. That is why they are undermining popular democratic governments until they destroy them politically. It is a media attack, it is what works best for corrupt conservatives,” he said.

The president made this assessment of what is happening in the region after being questioned about the complaints against the Colombian Gustavo Petro and the massive marches that his supporters held this week in support of the leftist president’s social reforms.

“I support him. He is a great president of Colombia, brother of Mexico. It is a blessing for Colombia that a president like Petro has arrived after many years of suffering from bad governments,” he explained, expanding his support for his Chilean counterpart, Gabriel Boric; to brazilian, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silvaand the Bolivian, Luis Arce.
