A strong showing at the Los Angeles Cup swimming competition in Lodi has propelled athletes from the Soncino Sporting Club toward national recognition, with several swimmers achieving qualifying times for upcoming championships. Giada Merisio Secures National Youth Criteria Berth

Giada Merisio delivered a standout performance, earning the first qualifying pass for the National Youth Criteria, scheduled to take place in Riccione this spring. Merisio achieved this feat in the 200-meter butterfly, clocking a time of 2:30.18. She nearly met the qualifying standard in the 100-meter butterfly as well, finishing with a time of 1:08.05 – just 50 hundredths of a second off the mark.

Butterfly Dominance on Display

The butterfly events proved particularly successful for the Soncino Sporting Club. Several athletes posted strong results in both the 50 and 100-meter distances. Matteo Benelli recorded times of 28.80 and 1:04.36, respectively, while Martina Elhamzawi finished in 34.11 and 1:17.20. Moving to freestyle, several swimmers delivered convincing results in the 200 and 400-meter events. Allyson Myorini posted times of 1:13.26 and 2:42.92 in the 100 and 200-meter backstroke, respectively, while Sofia Schiavini recorded 2:42.06 in the 200-meter breaststroke, 2:26.99 in the 200-meter butterfly, and 5:15.67 in the 400-meter medley.
