Whenever the Lakers are on the court, attention is focused on LeBron James. But in the early hours of this Tuesday, the one who shone in the Los Angeles team’s 116-104 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder, in the NBA round, was point guard D’Angelo Russell.
Inspired, he was effective in his offensive actions and disrupted the balance: he converted five three-pointers, scored 26 points, grabbed six rebounds and also gave three assists. This enlightened performance also featured two luxurious supporting actors.
Another Lakers highlight in the match, Anthony Davis scored 24 points, had 12 rebounds and four assists. Completing the trio that made the difference on the court is LeBron James. The star flirted with a “triple-double” by scoring 19 points, eleven rebounds and eight assists.
Still eyeing a direct spot in the playoffs, the Lakers sought the result against an Oklahoma City team that is going through a great moment. They are second in the Western Conference and are in direct contention for first place overall.
“It was a game where the team managed to impose its rhythm and we had good variations in the offensive part against a great opponent. We have to maintain this level to qualify”, said Russell, excited about the result.
In the duel, the Thunder started better and opened an initial lead of 11 to 2. The reaction was not long in coming. By scoring ten points in a row, the Los Angeles team led the score and imposed themselves on the court. In the final part, with decisive baskets, Russell, Davis and LeBron consolidated the result, scoring, together, 69 points of the 116 scored by the Lakers. On the Thunder side, the one who shone was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, his team’s top scorer, with 20 points.
In another game in the round, Jordan Clarkson led the Utah Jazz to a 127-115 victory over the Washington Wizards. He scored 38 points and led the team with a great performance.
“Being able to watch and see what they were doing from the bench and then come in and finish was great,” Clarkson said. He also made five of six shots in the game’s most decisive moment. In the match, he also registered ten rebounds and seven assists.
