25-year-old Alvaras Labanauskas on July 6. in the evening was spotted by CCTV operators driving his BMW dangerously on Broadway in Peterborough.
It drove down the middle of the road, circled and blocked junctions until it stopped and blocked the Fitzwilliam Street junction.
Officers noticed his speech was slurred and his eyes were narrowed.
He was arrested after a breathalyzer test showed he was more than twice the legal limit.
Labanauskas, of Ashcroft Gardens, Eastfield, admitted drink-driving and appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (July 24) where he was fined £1,000 and disqualified from driving for 22 months.
“A. Labanauskas drove carelessly in the city center, endangering the members of the public in the city,” said Sonny Pepperis, the policeman who conducted the investigation.
“Drink driving can have serious consequences and we are tackling this issue hard,” Cambridgeshire Police said in the same statement. “If you know someone who has been drinking and driving, please let us know so we can stop them quickly.”
