FC Bayern has had Vincent Kompany as coach since this summer. The Belgian was able to win the first few games – and probably also spread a new atmosphere.

Lothar Matthäus feels that the atmosphere at his long-time club Bayern Munich is much better under the new coach Vincent Kompany than under his predecessor Thomas Tuchel. “Kompany is well received by the team and things have become calmer. There is no longer any public discussion about players – that is a lesson learned,” Matthäus told Sky.

Tuchel “actually delivered a headline at every press conference, talking about players he no longer wants or that he needs new players. You don’t hear that anymore,” said Matthäus: “Kompany hasn’t demanded anything, he is happy with the players he has and can be happy – except for the defense, which is still a bit shaky.”

According to Matthäus, the former Manchester City star player is benefiting from the experience of his successful professional career. “He knows how to deal with players. He not only protects them, but also talks openly with them internally – even if that is something a player might not want to hear,” he said of Kompany: “But he doesn’t criticize anyone in public, and after the events of the last two years, that goes down very well with the players.”
