Lotte Mart Holds Children’s Marine Ecology Camp as Part of Ocean Love Campaign

Lotte Mart held a children’s marine ecology camp as part of its Love the Ocean campaign.

Lotte Mart announced on the 26th that it held the children’s marine ecology camp ‘Closer to the Sea’ with the Environmental Foundation in Seocheon-gun, South Chungcheong Province, for two days from the 24th to the 25th.

This camp was attended by 40 5th and 6th graders from all over the country. It provided an opportunity for children in local communities to learn about the environmental value of the ocean, marine ecosystems, and biodiversity, in order to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable oceans.

This camp was organized as the third campaign of Lotte Mart’s ocean love campaign, ‘Sea Love Sincerity’. Lotte Mart has been implementing ‘Sea Love Sincerity’ since this year to preserve the marine ecosystem and create a sustainable fishing environment.

Last May, we were commissioned by Gunsan City, Jeollabuk-do as the ‘Jangjado Sea Dreamer’ for our first campaign and carried out environmental cleanup activities. Last month, we supported Wando Jeonbok Co., Ltd. with ‘smart tank equipment’ to help establish a sustainable abalone management system.

Park Tae-sun, a person in charge of the Lotte Mart and Super ESG team, said, “I am very happy that our children were able to gain an understanding of the marine ecosystem and have various experiences that they would not normally have had the opportunity to have easily through the Close to the Sea camp,” and “I sincerely hope that this camp will serve as a foundation for our children to grow into proper environmental leaders.”
