Debut season ended early due to elbow pain
Lotte Giants right-handed pitcher Jeon Mir (19), who complained of elbow discomfort during the 2024 season, went to the operating table.
According to Lotte Club on the 27th, Jeon Mir underwent surgery on the medial collateral ligament of his right elbow at an orthopedic surgery center in Seoul the day before (the 26th).
A Lotte official said, “The condition of the elbow was not worse than during the season, but it was still a concern, so we performed surgery after consulting with the club and coach.”
He continued, “Medical staff predicted up to six months of rehabilitation. He explained, “I will return as early as the first half of the year to the second half of the year,” and “I will focus on rehabilitation in Korea for a while.”
Jeon Mir, who was nicknamed ‘Jeon Tani’ during his time at Gyeongbuk High School as a pitcher, joined Lotte as the 3rd overall pick in the first round of the 2024 rookie draft.
This year, he appeared in 36 games for the first team and recorded 1 win, 5 losses, 1 save, 5 holds, and an ERA of 5.88.
At the beginning of the season, expectations were raised as he briefly took charge of the sure-to-win team, but as he felt discomfort in his elbow, his appearances in games decreased.
Jeon Mir, who disappeared from the first team after the LG Twins game on June 15, devoted himself to rehabilitation, but the pain did not go away, and he eventually underwent surgery.
