Salem: The police arrested a number lottery wholesaler and arrested 10 people, including railway employees, and ‘accounted’ for them.

At Karupur in Salem district, the Special Police received a tip-off that a number lottery was being sold in an estate. When the police went to the spot, Mariyappan and Krishnan, the wholesalers, escaped.

Meanwhile, the police caught 10 people who came to buy lottery tickets. They include Salem Railway division lineman Palanimurugan, 34, from Suramangalam, Salem Division Railway Hospital Assistant Marudamalai, 47.

The local police have accused the privates of arresting those who came to buy the lottery after leaving the wholesalers and showing them ‘accounts’.
