Darren Sammy said in an interview, “The first-class cricket team in India is in a good position. Indian team players are paid well so they don’t need to play anywhere else. A player who is signed in the ‘A’ section of the Indian team gets a salary of Rs.7 crore per annum. But the ‘A’ player of the West Indies team earns only Rs 1.2 crore. This is a big difference. This obviously raises questions about wage inequality. The days of playing for the love of cricket are over. “The love of cricket doesn’t help you even buy a grocery bag,” he said.
