Wildfire Forces Evacuation of ‘Love Island: All Stars’ Set

Production was suspended as a precautionary measure amid escalating fire risk in the region.

  • A wildfire broke out in close proximity to the villa where love Island: All Stars is being filmed.
  • Production was instantly suspended, and the cast-including host Maya Jama-were evacuated.
  • ITV prioritizes the safety of its personnel, and filming will resume only when conditions improve.
  • The launch date, currently scheduled for Monday (12 january), is now uncertain.

Production of the reality TV series was already underway when the fire erupted in the Franschhoek region. According to reports, the decision to pause filming and evacuate was made to ensure the well-being of everyone involved, as the fire’s potential path remained unpredictable.

A source shared with media outlets that “A fire broke out close to the villa and it was deemed too dangerous to have Maya, the cast and all of the production crew working there in case it suddenly moved closer to the villa.”

“They have now cancelled filming today and are hoping to resume tomorrow,” the source continued. “ITV will always put the welfare of the cast and crew above the show.”

The unexpected disruption poses a “huge headache” as the show aims for its planned launch on Monday (12 January), according to the source. “This will make everything a far closer call when it comes to getting enough footage in the can for Monday night’s launch show,” they said.

“Naturally, if the fire is still posing a risk the show will be pushed back again. It’s a very nervous wait over in South Africa.”

Love Island: All Stars is a spin-off of the popular Love Island series, bringing back former contestants for a second chance at romance in a luxurious villa setting. This season’s lineup includes returning winners Millie Court and Jess Harding.

Other contestants include belle Hassan, Whitney Adebayo, Helena Ford, Leanne Amaning, Tommy Bradley, Sean Stone, Charlie Frederick, Ciaran Davies, Shaq Muhammad and Jack Keating.

An ITV spokesperson confirmed the evacuation, stating, “Owing to an ongoing wildfire in the area, we have evacuated the Love Island production site as a precautionary measure.”

The wildfire in South Africa is part of a larger pattern of extreme weather events globally. Australia is currently battling its own spate of dangerous bushfires, with Victoria entering a “catastrophic” fire danger rating-the highest level possible.
