The DYFI state committee had earlier rejected the statement of George M Thomas, CPM Kozhikode district secretariat member and former Thiruvambadi MLA. Responding to Love Jihad as a fabricated lie, the state leadership had made it clear that it would support the marriage between Shijin and Josna, a CPM local committee member and DYFI regional secretary who are mixed marriages. But George M. Thomas said action would be taken against Shij. He told the media that action would have to be taken against Shij, who had harmed the party.
