Low power consumption due to Diwali; 10 Crore units fall in 10 days Dinamalar

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu’s electricity consumption fell to 20.67 crore units on Diwali due to public holidays. This is the minimum power consumption for this year.

Only the Electricity Board undertakes the work of distribution of electricity to all the connections like houses and industries all over Tamil Nadu. The total amount of electricity used by the whole of Tamil Nadu in a day i.e. 24 hours is called electricity consumption.

Power consumption averages 30 crore units per day and increases during summer. Accordingly, this year on April 29, power consumption increased to 38.80 crore units. This is the highest ever.

In the beginning of this month, many districts received rain. However, due to the festive season, all industries were in full swing, so power consumption remained normal.

Many people had gone to their hometowns from the 21st of this month to celebrate Diwali.

Thus, 30.28 crores on 18th; 30.42 crore in 19; Power consumption was 29.98 crore units in 2020, 29.93 crore in 21; 28.71 crore in 22; 24.82 crore units in 2013, which decreased.

Since Diwali is a public holiday, most of the private companies are closed. Although some companies were operating, few employees came to work.

As a result, the electricity consumption on that day fell to 20.67 crore units, a decrease of 4.15 crore units compared to the previous day. This is the minimum power consumption of the year.

Power consumption on 14th of this month was 30.94 crore units. Subsequently, power consumption has reduced to 10.27 crore units in just 10 days.
