The BSE Finance, BankX and Consumer Durables sectors fell more than 1.2 per cent. Meanwhile, the best performing sector today is BSE Energy. Similarly, healthcare, information technology, metals and oil and gas accounted for more than 1% each. Shares of Nifty Media rose more than 6.5%, even with the stock markets in decline today. The Sensex was up 1,451 points, down 1,940. Of these, 114 shares remained unchanged.

The Sensex fell 89 points to close at 57,595 after a volatile session. The Sensex Midcap index was up 58 points at 23,851 and the BSE Smallcap was up 45 points at 27,892. Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, NTPC, Tata Steel, Reliance Industries and Ultratech Cement were the top gainers in the BSE Sensex.

The Nifty index was down 48 points at 17,197. Similarly, the Bank Nifty was down 631 points at 35,515. Among the Nifty indices, Ultratech Cement, Hindalco Industries, Coal India and Dr Reddy Laboratories were the top gainers.
