“Lower countries needlessly lose more from heatwaves”

by time news

A study has found that trillions of dollars have been lost globally over the last 30 years due to the effects of increased heat from climate change.

Dartmouth College professor Justin Mankin, one of the authors of the study, said that the less well-off countries are expected to lose more money.

He also said that climate change has aggravated the global environment full of economic inequality.

The study estimated that the global economy lost $16 trillion between 1992 and 2013 during periods of extreme heat.

The world’s wealthiest countries have lost only 1.5 percent of their annualized economies in anticipation of extreme heat.

Least-developed countries lost about 6.7 percent of their annualized economic growth.

Why this difference?

Most of the poorest countries are located in the hottest parts of the globe.

During periods of hot winds their heat increases to a greater degree; The damage that can be done is huge.
