In-Kyung Kim (36), who won seven LPGA Tour titles, has put an end to her active career.

The AIG Women’s Open, the last major golf tournament of the season, announced on its official social network service (SNS) on the 25th (Korean time), “In-Kyung Kim, the winner of this tournament in 2017, has announced that she will retire as a professional player after this tournament.”

In-Kyung Kim, who debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2007, has won seven times in her career. In 2017, she won four times, including the British Open, the predecessor of the AIG Women’s Open.

Kim In-kyung has competed in seven tournaments this season and has made it to the top 10 once. She tied for third place at the Dow Championship in June, her best performance of the season, and in her final tournament, the AIG Women’s Open, she finished 81st with a final total of 11-over 299.

In an interview after the match, Kim In-kyung said, “I’ve been waiting for this moment and it’s here today,” and added, “I’ve been thinking about retirement for two years and where would be a good place to play the last 18 holes.”

He continued, “Many people tried to discourage me from retiring. I spoke with Tseng Yani (Taiwan), and she cried and I cried too.”

Kim In-kyung, looking back on her tour life, said, “I’m most proud of the effort I put in. I wasn’t particularly talented, but I loved golf very much,” and added, “I’m grateful that I was able to travel to many places to play and learn golf. I’m also grateful to all my colleagues here. I learned a lot from them.”

He then expressed his feelings by saying, “I want to say thank you to everyone. There were good and bad times during my career as a player, but you all made it beautiful.”
