The Sri Lanka Army’s 51st Brigade in Jaffna said that a powerful claymore mine manufactured by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has been recovered buried.
The claymore mine was recovered from the Velanai Ambika Nagar area under the Kayts Police Division around 4 pm today.
Based on information received by the Military Intelligence Unit, the Sri Lanka Army Jaffna 51st Brigade Special Forces recovered and defused a claymore mine.
As the Heroes’ Week begins today, the Army has recovered a claymore mine emblazoned with the slogan “Killer Velvan” produced by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
