Latvian Television Prepares Festive New Year’s show with “PÄ rdziedi mani†Flair
Latvian Television (LTV) is gearing up to deliver a vibrant New Year’s show in 2026, promising a blend of music, dance, and humor, all infused with the spirit of the popular program “PÄ rdziedi mani.â€
riga, Latvia — Latvian Television (LTV) is set to ring in 2026 with a spectacular New Year’s show designed to uplift and entertain viewers. The broadcast will draw heavily from the beloved format of “PÄ rdziedi mani†(“Sing Over Me†), a musical competition that has captured the nation’s heart, while also introducing fresh elements and surprises.
The upcoming show aims to offer a diverse musical landscape, featuring performances in multiple languages and spanning various genres. According to LTV, the evening will be centered around discovering a new anthem for the new Year, bringing together established stars from both seasons of “PÄ rdziedi mani†alongside special guest artists. A particularly noteworthy addition will be a brass trio, presented in a unique configuration that promises to delight audiences.
The creative team intends to mirror the innovative spirit of “PÄ rdziedi mani†by encouraging artists to push their boundaries and explore new artistic avenues.
“My contribution to the show will be quite a lot of dancing and these movements that make me happy. If they are repeated by people in front of the TV, they will definitely feel happier in 2026,†shared one performer. Another artist revealed a personal challenge, stating, “This time I will sing a very romantic song, because I rarely do it, and it is a big challenge for me.â€
A highlight of the show will be a special performance featuring Ieva AkurÄ tere, the winner of the first season of “PÄ rdziedi mani†with a French-language song, and Justus. Justus undertook the ambitious task of learning french specifically for this collaboration.
“I asked my friend who learns French and I had two or even three whole times when I went to him and line by line, word by word. And he recorded me. I was driving and listening while I was driving to work, listening and talking along.By the end, those words and this expression appeared,†Justus explained, detailing his intensive preparation.
AkurÄ tere expressed her enthusiasm for the pairing, stating, “I am very inspired by our Latvian youth.I think that they are very smart, intelligent, open to the world in a good way. And I have high hopes for them. And this singing together with Justs symbolizes all of that.â€
The production of the New Year’s show is a collaborative effort involving a large team of professionals, including camera operators, lighting technicians, and producers.
“Everything is relative, everything is relatively easy, some tough, some difficult, some complicated. And the cool thing is that each song has its own challenge, not only for the performers, but also for those who think what will happen in that song on stage and how it will be presented. as it would be a sin to complain about boredom,†noted the show’s director, Arvīds Babris.
