Actor, director and producer, Luca Zingaretti was born in Rome on 11 November 1961. As a young man he enrolled in the faculty of psychology but left to enter the National Academy of Dramatic Art. At the theater he made his debut in Luca Ronconi’s “Santa Giovanna”, to which he remains linked for five other productions. He played his first film role in 1987 in Giuliano Montaldo’s film “Gli Occhiali d’oro”. Since 1999 he has achieved fame and success thanks to television in the role of Commissioner Montalbano, conceived by Andrea Camilleri. In the same year he also made his debut as a director in the documentary Gulu. He wins the Silver Ribbon for Best Supporting Actor thanks to the roles in “Our Life” by Luchetti and “The Youngest Son” by Pupi Avati. He worked on the Sky series “The King” which will be released in 2022 and voiced one of the protagonists of “Encanto”, the new action film from Disney. Luca is the elder brother of the governor of Lazio, Nicola Zingaretti. Divorced from his first wife, the journalist and writer Margherita D’Amico, he is now married to actress Luisa Ranieri. The two met on the set of the film Kefalonia in 2005.
