There are still 8 days left to go, but the 2022 edition of Lucca Comics & Games (the number 56 of its history, counting also the 2020 one held only in online mode due to anti-covid restrictions) already by right in the annals: as announced by the mayor Mario Pardini (who of Lucca Crea, a subsidiary of the Municipality that manages the organization of the festival, was president until 2020, ed), in fact, on Thursday morning the all-time record of tickets has been broken – 271,208, to be precise – registered in 2016. Un a number that appears destined to grow even more significantlyboth in consideration of the several days of online presale that are still missing at the beginning of the event, and taking into account all those who will purchase the coupon at the last minute at the physical ticket offices, during the holidays.
I announce with great joy and pride – says Mayor Pardini – that at 8.30 on Thursday morning the counter of tickets sold for Lucca Comics & Games 2022 reached the number of 271 thousand 585, thus establishing a new absolute record more than a week after the opening of the event. This is a great result for the whole city, which confirms Lucca Comics as the first fair in the western world (and second on the planetary level after the Tokyo Comiket) in the pop culture sector, which is the most successful macro container of our time. We have entitled this edition to the theme of hope – adds the mayor – and these numbers confirm the desire for light-heartedness of the hundreds of thousands of people arriving in our city, who, as always, will be able to welcome them in the best way in the sign of beauty and hospitality that only Lucca capable of giving and from which derives the great international success of a unique event, capable on its own of promoting its territory, moving culture and induced like few others in the world. I therefore wish to renew my warmest congratulations to Lucca Crea, thanking all the staff, the Board of Directors and the collaborators, in the certainty that the upcoming edition will truly be the largest edition in the history of Lucca Comics & Games, more than fifty years after its foundation. .
