After nearly three decades with the network, actress and singer Luciana Abreu is departing SIC, a leading Portuguese television station. The announcement marks the end of an era for both Abreu and the Paço de Arcos-based broadcaster,as she seeks to prioritize a burgeoning music career and explore new professional avenues.
A Career Defined by “Floribella” and Beyond
Abreu, 40, first rose to prominence through her role in the popular youth series “Floribella.” While fondly recalling the character that catapulted her to fame, Abreu revealed a more complex experience during her time on the show. She explained that the demanding work schedule led to exhaustion and anemia, resulting in limited personal memories of that period.
“I call it my eternal love and I play Floribella live at my concerts,” Abreu shared during an appearance on the Casa Feliz program, hosted by Diana Chaves and João Baião. “I’m also very happy about that, I’ll finally be able to dedicate myself to the road as I always wanted. I can now accept concerts on Fridays,Saturdays,I can embrace music from December onwards.”
A Desire for Change and a Focus on Family
the decision to leave SIC, Abreu emphasized, was a valiant one. As one commentator noted, “you need to have courage, sometimes, to take certain positions and cut out a lot of things that, sometimes, we think are comfortable and the most comfortable.” Abreu herself echoed this sentiment, stating, “I’m not going to Mars.”
Beyond professional aspirations, Abreu highlighted the importance of family in her decision-making process. “It’s time for change,God knows what he’s doing,I trust myself and I know what I’m capable of,” she said. “I know what awaits me, wich is also a fantastic family that builds the future, that gives its best, that grows day after day and that when they hug they also squeeze and that is very significant for me – it also weighed heavily on my decision.”
Rumors of a Move to CMTV
While remaining tight-lipped about her next move, Abreu seemingly confirmed speculation linking her to CMTV, another Portuguese television channel. “I’m not authorized to say it yet, when I am authorized I will say it with great happiness,” she stated.Reports suggest she might potentially be slated to host the morning program Manhãs CM alongside Rui Oliveira, husband of Manuel Luís Goucha.
Abreu described her outlook as one of embracing new possibilities. “In terms of luck, we build our future, not everything goes the way we want,” she explained. “I felt that, as all children do, it was time for me to leave home for new adventures – because that’s how it is, it’s the law of nature.” She added, “I feel the need to do new things, to take other flights and there is so much to explore within me.”
SIC Confirms Departure and Contract termination
SIC officially confirmed Abreu’s departure in a statement released on November 11, 2025. The network acknowledged receiving notification from the LVAM agency, representing Abreu, regarding her intention not to renew her contract, which was originally set to expire on December 31, 2025.
The statement further indicated that Abreu had requested an early termination of the contract, and SIC had agreed to release her as of November 30th. Despite the change,SIC expressed gratitude for Abreu’s contributions over the years.
