The Director of Civil Protection (PROCIVIL), Luis Alonso Amaya, reported that in case of emergencies that may arise in El Salvador, there are 170 shelters pre-equipped throughout the country, which have the capacity to protect more than 9,500 people .
“We currently have 170 pre-equipped shelters across the country, which have the capacity to shelter more than 9,500 people in reasonable conditions,” the Civil Defense chief said.
In addition, the official reported that he carried out preventive mitigation measures before the winter season to reduce the impact of rain and avoid risks, cleaning drains, gutters, rivers and streams.
“Garbage is a very important issue to emphasize, and I want to reiterate to the population to deposit garbage in the appropriate places and thus avoid urban flooding caused by rain,” said Luis Alonso Amaya.
