Lukashenka: we are against war, but it will happen if Russia is attacked

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko allowed the outbreak of war if direct aggression is committed against Belarus or Russia. According to him, everyone will participate in it, even those who do not want to. He believes that the West wants to “drown the Russian-Ukrainian brotherhood in blood.”

“So will there be a war or not? Yes, she will. But only in two cases. One of them is if direct aggression is committed against Belarus and a hot war is unleashed. We all as one, and even those who do not want to, will defend our land and our Fatherland. And the second moment, when there will be a war, and Belarus will participate in it, if our ally – the Russian Federation – is directly attacked, ”the President of Belarus said, addressing the Belarusian people and parliament with a message.

According to Mr. Lukashenko, the army of Belarus is “compact, maneuverable, combat-ready”, if necessary, about 300 thousand people will be mobilized into territorial troops. He noted that “one and a half to two million” Belarusians should be able to use weapons.

“Peace is an absolute value for Belarusians, the most important, worldview. And to preserve it, we all need to make tremendous efforts. First, to preserve the unity of society and the state. A country is able to effectively resist aggression only if it is monolithic. As we know, classical wars are no longer waged today. Hybrid ones are in fashion, when an attack is preceded by inciting an internal conflict,” Alexander Lukashenko believes. According to him, it is “hybrid” wars that are now being waged against the country.

“Ukraine is becoming the subject of behind-the-scenes bargaining, Ukrainians are being pushed into the flames of conflict, their minds are being broken, they are purposefully prepared for aggression, and a hostile attitude is being formed towards fraternal peoples, including Belarusians. It is important for the West to drown the Russian-Ukrainian brotherhood, our Slavic brotherhood, in blood,” the president said.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, answering the question whether there will be a war in connection with the escalation in Ukraine, said that if it depends on Russia, then there will not be. At the same time, he stressed that Russia would not allow ignoring its interests.
