Belarus and Russia will surpass the pre-pandemic level of trade in 2021, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi. A transcript of the conversation was published on the Kremlin’s website.

“You have correctly noted the growth of trade turnover. We are now calculating literally every fraction of a percent. And we see that this year we will surpass our pre-pandemic, dock-like trade turnover with Russia. And there we had a trade turnover of more than $ 35 billion, ”Lukashenka said.

After that, Putin recalled that last year the trade turnover amounted to more than $ 29 billion. At the same time, he confirmed that before the pandemic, this figure exceeded $ 30 billion.

In September last year, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that trade between Russia and Belarus had dropped by 21% in six months. According to him, in 2019 the trade between the two countries amounted to $ 35.5 billion.
