The celebration of the return of the Tupinambá coat that has been marked by disputes between indigenous leaders and President Lula this Thursday (12), at the National Museum in Rio, where the article will be presented.
The President responded to a memorandum signed by 23 villages in Bahia regarding the dissatisfaction of the indigenous people with the management of the indigenous system by the Federal Government. The issue also has the opposition of the National Assembly and the Judiciary for the approval of the temporary regulation law.
“Today we have the worst parliament in history, a parliament that lacks representation and justice, and a weak government, bound to alliances and agreements to stay in power. They don’t respect for laws or international agreements and conventions. We live in a distorted democracy,” declared Yakuy Tupinambá, an elder and traditional leader.
“If I had the power of it [Yakuy] Believe me, I’m not going to be here doing a costume party. I will celebrate the lives of the millions of indigenous people who died in this country, who have been enslaved by the European colonialist,” Lula replied. “There is no ministry here to stay strong. “I don’t need that.”
