However, in a much more critical tone, he added that Lula puts “the victim and the aggressor on the same level” and for attacking Ukraine’s allies who help it “protect itself from murderous aggression.”

The Brazilian press itself condemned Lula’s pro-Russian position and called him naive and megalomaniac.

O Globo affirmed that “after having taken an inappropriate position in favor of Russia in the war with Ukraine, Brazil hashas completely lost the ability to participate in a group of countries in favor of peace”.

Folha de Sao Paulo, in turn, warns about a “risky diplomacy” with Lula assuming “an unnecessary political cost by aligning himself with Beijing and Moscow.”
