President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was invited by former United States President Bill Clinton to an event organized by the Clinton Foundation on climate change, which will take place on September 23 and 24, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The invitation occurred during a telephone call between the leaders on the afternoon of this Thursday (22). During the call, Lula was accompanied by the special advisor for International Affairs of the Presidency, Celso Amorim, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Laura da Rocha. The president reiterated to Clinton the government’s commitment to energy transition and forest protection, stating that he intends to present ambitious results for COP 29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, at the end of this year, and COP 30 in Belém next year. COP is the Annual United Nations Conference on Climate Change.
