. He will start the day with an audience with Senator Bernie Sanders

. The meeting with the president Joe Biden
will take place at the end of the day.
The PT’s first appointment will take place at 10:30 am (Brasília time). He will speak with Sanders and, at 11:15 am, he will meet with deputies from the Democratic Party. The meeting has been treated as political in nature.
At noon, Brazil’s chief executive will meet with representatives of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO).
At 3:30 pm, Lula will have his first contact with Joe Biden and will take the official photo. Half an hour later, she will hold a private meeting in the Oval Office of the White House. At 4:30 pm, an expanded event will take place in the Cabinet Room.
The Brazilian government will have the environment and climate change as its main agenda. However, the PT will also address economic issues, human rights and the defense of democracy.
The White House reported that Lula and Biden will discuss “the unwavering support of the United States for democracy in Brazil” and “the common challenges” of Brazil and the United States. The US government also stated that “climate change, food security, economic development, strengthening peace and security and regional migration” will be discussed.
Lula, Biden and the environmental issue
After winning the 2020 election, Biden promised to take care of the environmental area and discuss with world leaders ways to reduce pollution across the planet. But Brazil, governed by Jair Bolsonaro (PL), showed no interest in the matter, so much so that Lula promised that the Ministry of the Environment would be his flagship in a third term.
In the first month of management, the PT closed agreements with international countries to receive resources for the Amazon Fund. The European Union and France are considering donating funds to the fund. The Brazilian president wants the United States to be part of the donor group.
The Brazilian ruler wants to emphasize the importance of the Amazon for the world’s development in the environmental and climate sectors, in addition to presenting a plan in which investors can undertake in the forest in a sustainable way.
In PT’s assessment, if Biden joins the group of Amazon Fund donors and praises the Brazilian project for the sector, the tendency for businessmen and investors to look favorably on the idea of betting on the forest.
