BRASILIA (Reuters) – President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said this Thursday that he had summoned Communications Minister Juscelino Filho to a meeting on Monday, following allegations of irregularities filed against him, and guaranteed that everyone who culprits will leave the government.
Lula said, in an interview with journalist Reinaldo Azevedo, from BandNews, that the minister was called to present his version, but that “if he cannot prove his innocence, he cannot stay in government.”
According to reports published by the press, the minister is accused of using a Brazilian Air Force (FAB) plane to participate in an auction of race horses. He would also have failed to declare at least 2.2 million reais in race horses to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
