The Astana team rider, only 4th at the start of the final section, escaped 25 km from the finish and crossed the line 40 seconds ahead of South African Louis Meintjes and 1 min 13 seconds over the Italian Vincenzo Albanese, these two men also taking 2nd and 3rd places in the final general classification.
New Zealander Finn Fisher-Black, who had been the leader since his victory in the first stage, broke down and finished 4th.
