A female passenger in China refused to put her luxury bag under her seat, causing a flight delay of about an hour.
According to the Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP) on the 16th (local time), the female passenger boarded a China Express Airlines flight from Chongqing Airport in southwestern China to Hebei Province in northern China on the 10th.
The flight attendant, who was inspecting the cabin at the time, asked the woman to place her bag under the seat in front of her for safety reasons.
In fact, it is known that bags should be stored under the seats on board to prevent them from flying away and injuring people or blocking escape routes in case of turbulence.
However, the woman insisted on leaving her Louis Vuitton bag next to her seat instead of in the lower compartment of the plane.
After an hour-long altercation, the flight attendant notified airport police, who then forcibly removed the woman from the plane.
However, the aircraft had already completed takeoff preparations and entered the runway. Eventually, the passenger refused to comply with safety regulations, so the aircraft returned to the boarding gate, and it was reported that subsequent flights were disrupted.
Afterwards, a video of the situation at the time was shared on China’s Douyin and garnered over 4 million views.
As the video spread, local netizens poured out criticism of the female passenger, saying, “Is it really true that a bag is more important than your life?” and “You’re not riding alone, so you need to think about the safety of other passengers as well.”
On the other hand, some people expressed regret over the flight attendant’s response, saying, “This could have been resolved quickly if the flight attendant had provided the woman with something to put her Louis Vuitton bag in” and “Was it really necessary to waste an hour?”
The airline has not made any statement regarding the incident, and the passenger’s identity has not been revealed.
