The 2022/23 season in the French league kicked off tonight (Friday), with Lyon’s 1:2 win over Ajax. The hero of the evening was also Lyon’s summer hero – Alexandre Lacazette, who returned to his youth team at the age of 31 after five years at Arsenal, and continued exactly from the same point where he left in 2017.
As in the previous two years, this time the first goal scorer of the season is Brazilian – this time it was Tate, who took advantage of Lacazette’s assist and made it 0:1 in the 12th minute. Ten minutes later, the big star switched to the role of scorer, doubling the score from the penalty spot and receiving warm applause from the home crowd.
The guest didn’t give up and managed to shrink, when Anthony Lopes caused a penalty and was sent off (27), and after a few minutes of medical treatment with Al Idrisi, Thomas Mangani (31) scored from the penalty spot in front of substitute goalkeeper Rami Rio. However, in the 45th minute Ajax was also down to ten players, when a shocked Romaine received a second yellow card, and from there she was unable to come back.
The opening round will continue tomorrow with two more games, with Paris Saint-Germain hosting Clermont.
