Lyon: four years after his conviction, Marin’s attacker was released

by time news

Six years after the events, Marin remains a severely handicapped young man. Since his terrible attack, extremely violent, on November 11, 2016 at the Lyon Part-Dieu station, when he had tried to intervene to defend a couple who were kissing attacked by a gang, he suffers from physical and psychological sequelae. The young man had been left for dead after being beaten up. He then spent three weeks in a coma.

In 2018, his attacker, 17 years old at the time of the facts, had been sentenced to seven and a half years in prison, while the Advocate General had requested a sentence almost twice as large.

The attacker, imprisoned on a preventive basis before his conviction, spent six years of his life in prison. Justice has decided to release him, revealed our colleagues from France 3 this Friday. After a first attempt rejected in 2020, after the prosecution appealed a request for release from the sentence enforcement judge, Marin’s attacker gets what he asked for this time.

Nothing surprising, according to his former adviser, Me Anne Guillemaut, quoted by our colleagues from France 3. “It is perfectly logical. He has largely served his sentence by remaining in prison for six full years,” she said. Counsel adds that the now 23-year-old has “invested” in prison. He also managed to find a job.

Contacted by France 3, Marin’s family did not wish to react to this news. With 20 Minutes, she adds that she chose silence for fear of making remarks that could be “of a certain violence”. »
