Ukrainian army announces withdrawal from Lysychansk

Russian strikes targeted the city of Lyssychansk, Ukraine on July 3, 2022.

The Ukrainian army finally announced on Sunday that its soldiers had withdrawn from Lysytchansk, a key city in eastern Ukraine facing a violent assault by Russian troops for weeks. “In order to preserve the lives of Ukrainian defenders, the decision has been taken to withdraw” of the city, wrote the general staff of the armed forces of Ukraine in a press release, underlining the “multiple superiority” of the Russian army on the material level.

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed responsibility for the capture of Lysytchansk and the “liberation” from the entire Luhansk region. In the evening, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had however assured that he was “impossible to say that Lysytchansk is under control” Russian.

Moreover, in Russia, a series of « fortes explosions » caused at least four deaths in Belgorod. Moscow accuses Ukraine of having launched missiles against this city near the border between the two countries.

Finally, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, an ally of Russia, said on Saturday that his army had shot down missiles fired from Ukraine and aimed at military targets located on its territory, a little earlier this week.

Eric Coquerel defends himself against accusations of his behavior towards women

Eric Coquerel, June 30, 2022, at the National Assembly.

Eric Coquerel denounced “unfounded rumors” on his behavior towards women, Sunday, July 3. The deputy of La France insoumise (LFI) of Seine-Saint-Denis, elected to the presidency of the finance committee of the National Assembly, published a column in The Sunday newspaper, in which he claims not to have “never exercised physical or psychological violence or coercion to obtain a report, which characterizes the gateway to criminal behavior in the field of gender-based and sexual violence”.

If the deputy regretted, in his gallery, the absence of public testimony, a left-wing activist and former figure of “yellow vests” has since announced that it has seized LFI’s sexist and sexual violence committee, ” in order to endorse [s]one testimony attesting to the unacceptable behavior of Eric Coquerel”. Asked about this on BFM-TV, Eric Coquerel disputed the facts covered by this report.
