As M. Bastys himself confirmed to the portal, he agreed to run for office in the coalition list of three political forces “Peace Coalition”.

As announced last week, Viktoras Uspaskich, who returned to the Labor Party, signed a coalition agreement with the Lithuanian Christian Democracy Party of MP Mindaugas Puidokas and the Žemaičiai Party led by Irena Stražinskaitė-Glinskienė. These political forces called themselves the “Peace Coalition”.

At that time, the “workers” stated in a statement that other well-known non-party persons and public figures in Lithuania are also invited to join the “Peace Coalition”.

The media announced that former MEP Stasys Jakeliūnas, actor Žilvinas Tratas and lawyer’s assistant Erikas Pavlovičius also intend to run for the Seimas on the list of this coalition.

ELTA reminds that in the spring of 2018, M. Bastys refused the mandate of the Seimas. The former social democrat made the decision to retire after the unsuccessful impeachment against him in the Seimas.

Before that, the Constitutional Court (KT) recognized the politician as a gross violation of the Constitution and breach of the MP’s oath when he hid his connections with former KGB officer Piotr Vojeika.

M. Bastys himself said then that he had not deliberately hidden anything.
