In neighboring Telangana, the state’s Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao boycotted the Republic Day celebrations at the Raj Bhavan.
However, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin was not the only one to attend the program hosted by Governor RN Ravi.
Also, they sat together and drank tea. They took a photo with a smile. Earlier Stalin welcomed Ravi with a bouquet.

At the start of the budget session, the Governor avoided reading parts of the speech approved by Stalin’s government.
Later, this happened after he moved from Chennai to New Delhi.

On the eve of Republic Day, Stalin not only ignored his own allies who walked out of the Raj Bhavan, but reasserted his image as chief minister with a difference. Even in a state known for bitter political rivalries, it believes in peaceful reconciliation rather than flashy retaliation.

Governor Ravi has had an ongoing rivalry with the DMK government since his appointment.

He questioned the DMK government’s claim of a “Dravidian model” and suggested that the state should be renamed Tamil Nadu. Dropped the state symbol from the invitation. He did not sign some bills.

However, Stalin remained silent and left Ravi’s question to the DMK leaders. After Ravi’s assembly walkout, the DMK government sent a complaint to Delhi, but party workers were told to refrain from personal attacks.

Importantly, the central government responded that Ravi immediately changed his style, reportedly after being reprimanded by Delhi.

In Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa and M. Karunanidhi stand as role models of strong leadership.

Jayalalithaa ruled to the point of overturning power at the center by denying support, while Karunanidhi was an old-fashioned respected elder who had friends and well-wishers across parties and was sought after for his negotiating skills.

Party leaders also say that Karunanidhi would have played soft politics during the conflict with the Governor, while Jayalalithaa would have gone to the other side.

In the past, the AIADMK leader has even avoided his daughter’s wedding because the groom is a Congress leader and his mother will get angry.

One of the first tasks before Stalin was to shape the DMK as his own, emerging from the shadow of his father Karunanidhi. Composure in the face of opposition seems to be his way.

As a DMK MLA, he attended Jayalalithaa’s swearing-in ceremony after her victory in the May 2016 elections, while Karunanidhi stayed away. Stalin was undaunted by not giving a seat in the front 10 rows; While thanking her for coming, it was Jayalalitha who ultimately apologized for this.

In 2017, Stalin was the guest of honor at the 60th birthday of BJP leader H. Raja, an RSS stalwart and staunch critic of the DMK and the Karunanidhi family.

In 2020, Stalin visited then Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s residence in Salem to condole his mother’s death.

Earlier, Stalin was forced to go to court at midnight for a favorable order after the Palaniswami administration denied him land to bury Karunanidhi at the Chennai Marina beach.

In July 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai. It was a far cry from 2014,

DMK’s ‘Go Back Modi’ posters made history in the past. At the opening ceremony of Chess, the Dhambi symbol was introduced.
Similarly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin also attended wearing a vest.

TV anchor and YouTuber Rangaraj Pandey, known for his far-right and anti-DMK views, visited his father’s house recently when he died.

Following the assembly clash with the governor, the Stalin government moved quickly to seek redress from the central government rather than take to the streets, knowing full well that the BJP did not want to risk squandering its hard-earned and carefully cultivated goodwill.

After this DMK leaders sent a clear message that they expected Ravi to be sacked by immediately suspending an executive who had threatened the governor.

Taking names like “sustainable corruption” and “scientific corruption”, no one believes that Tamil Nadu has become a new state. At the same time, the enforcement department has also stumbled and has yet to shake the DMK
