Chennai: Suspicious about the death of a schoolgirl near Chinnasalem, some people ransacked the school. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin held a serious meeting with the ministers and officials yesterday regarding this incident. At that time, he requested the authorities to quickly find the culprits and punish them. Subsequently, the District Collector and SP have been ordered to be transferred.

Last Sunday (17th), the protestors broke out in a sudden riot over the death of a student of Shakti Matric Higher Secondary School Smt. They broke into the school and looted. More than 10 school buses were set on fire. They ransacked the belongings of the school and burnt all the documents including the certificates of the students and teachers of the school. More than 50 policemen, including DIG and SP, were injured in the stone-pelting by the protesters. Subsequently, a large number of policemen were gathered in the school area and the protestors were chased away and beaten. Prohibitory order 144 has been issued in that area.

The principal, principal, secretary and teachers of the school have also been arrested and imprisoned in connection with the death of the student. 302 people including 21 children who participated in the protest have been arrested and imprisoned. Following this, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin in a statement issued on the 17th said, ‘The prevailing situation in Kallakurichi is regrettable. An investigation into the death of the student is underway. The culprits will definitely be punished at the end of the police investigation,’ he said.

He also directed Home Secretary Panindra Reddy and DGP Sailendrababu to immediately rush to the area where the school is located and control the situation. They also went to the spot, camped and controlled the protest. Following this, the Tamil Nadu government ordered an investigation by the CBCID police into the student’s death and the riots in the school. During this investigation, it was revealed that the rioters had planned the riots. Many of them have been imprisoned. Police are actively looking for many more. The day before yesterday, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin ordered Public Works Minister AV Velu and School Education Minister Mahesh Poiyamozhi to rush to Kallakurichi immediately. They also rushed to the school and conducted an investigation. The injured policeman was also taken to the hospital.

In this case, Chief Minister M. K. Stalin returned home yesterday morning after the corona treatment. The doctors asked him to rest for a week. Since then he has been at home and has been taking care of government work. Srimati, a student of Kaniyamoor Private School near Chinnasalem in Kallakurichi District, died mysteriously yesterday morning while at Chief Minister M.K.Stal’s house, and discussed the riots that ensued with the higher officials through video conferencing.

Ministers AV Velu, Mahesh Boiyamozhi, Home Secretary Panindra Reddy, Tamil Nadu DGP Sailendrababu, Intelligence ADGP Davidson Devaseerwadham, School Education Secretary Kakarla Usha, Kallakurichi District Collector Sridhar and many others participated in this consultation. During this consultation, ‘the incident at a private school near Chinnasalem should be immediately investigated and the culprits should be quickly found and punished. The education department should make all arrangements to take action so that the studies of the concerned school students are not affected. The damage caused to the school should be repaired as soon as possible and action should be taken to restore the school to normal functioning. It is said that various aspects were discussed, including that those responsible for the riot should be found and identified to the society.

In this situation, the Tamil Nadu government has ordered the immediate transfer of District Collector Sridhar and District Superintendent Selvakumar. In this regard, Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Thaoyanpu has appointed Additional Director of Agriculture Department Shravan Kumar Jadavath as Kallakurichi District Collector. Kallakurichi District Collector B.N. Sridhar has been appointed as Project Director, Chennai-Kanyakumari Industrial Corridor. Moreover, it is reported that he will also look after the responsibility of Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Road Development Corporation.

Similarly, in a statement released by Home Secretary Panindra Reddy, Pagalavan, who was the deputy commissioner of Tiruvallikeni, Chennai, has been appointed as SP of Kallakurichi district. Selvakumar, who was the SP of Kallakurichi district, has been transferred to the waiting list. Kallakurichi District Collector and District SP have been transferred at the same time in the case of student suicide which has created a sensation.
