Major Traffic Disruptions Reported Across Hungarian Motorways

Motorists in Hungary are facing significant delays Tuesday morning following a series of accidents impacting key roadways, including the M2, M31, and M0 highways.
A series of collisions and incidents have snarled traffic around Budapest, prompting authorities to close sections of major motorways and advise drivers to seek alternative routes. The disruptions are expected to continue throughout the day as emergency services work to clear the affected areas.
M2 Highway Closure Near Dunakeszi
A significant incident involving a van and three cars occurred at the 24th kilometer marker of the M2 highway, in the direction of Budapest, near Dunakeszi. According to the disaster protection authority, the affected section of the M2 has been completely closed to traffic.
The incident has already resulted in a substantial traffic buildup, with reports indicating a 3-kilometer traffic jam. Utinfo, the national traffic information center, advises motorists to utilize Highway 2 as an alternative route. However, they cautioned that lanes on Highway 2 are also heavily congested.
M31 Highway Blocked by Truck Incident
Further compounding the travel difficulties, an accident was also reported on the M31 highway. Between the 4th and 5th kilometer sections, near Kerepes, a truck reportedly turned around, blocking traffic. Authorities have closed this section of the M31 highway as well.
M0 Highway Facing Delays Near Csömör
The M0 highway is also experiencing disruptions. Two cars collided at the 66th kilometer section, in the Csömör area, heading towards the Megyeri bridge. Traffic is currently being managed with only one lane open on the affected stretch, leading to considerable slowdowns.
These widespread incidents are creating a challenging commute for drivers in the region. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution, monitor traffic updates, and allow for significant extra travel time.
